A night at Starbucks...

What I've been doing lately is catching up on sketches and drawings I owe good folks to. I go to the nearby Starbucks, order my usual Venti Americano, and doodle. I really have no thought at all when I begin. Lately I sketch one element, like a figure, or a tree study, and I usually build out from there. It's a way of spilling out a concept and just draw for drawing's sake. Looking at these sketches again tells me that I could definitely push the focal point a bit more, especially the gladiator drawing. If you see the sketch with a blurred eye, you see a strong negative space in a circular form just between the two sparring warriors. Could definitely close up this space more with tone or light detail, so as the focal point is more on the warrior on the left. More to come...
