Oldie sketches

Yeah, I've been really bad about posting new art. Work's been very busy lately and I was dealing with some health issues, which are now under control. I'm getting ready to get my last sketchbook ready for the Con. Hopefully I can finish it in time. Thanks for everyone for your support and love. See ya soon.

Inspiration: Vincent Massy

I'm so pleased to see that the multi-talented artist Vincent Massy has a blog. I first saw Vincent's work when I was working on the Groove 2 movie. He's such a talent and an incredible draughtsman. Definitely look through the his pages in his blog. It's filled with concepts, sketches, workbook pages and some models. Definitely a treat!

Rising Star: Sean Covernton

My good bud Brad Goodchild brought to me the attention of a young talented artist by the name of Sean Covernton. Sean worked with Brad in Vancouver and this guy's awesome. Not only does Sean do boards but he's also a great designer as well. You can also view his blog-folio. Great stuff Sean! I wish you all the best, and I know you'll go far.

Hans Bacher: Dream Worlds

This is way overdue, but if you haven't seen it yet, definitely check out Han Bacher's new book, "Dream Worlds: Production Design for Animation". It's now available in English, and it's a stunning treat!! It's filled with gorgeous work from many movies he's designed and it's filled with notes, and approaches on how he designs and compose for film. This is a must have for any budding art director or production designer, or for that matter anyone who wants to see composition done from a current master. It's available through Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

Inspiration: Sam "the Man" Michlap

Ahh, these beauties were created by my bud and supertalented designer Sam Michlap for Dreamwork's "Sinbad". Sam is one of the best designers I've had the pleasure to work with. He's amazing with composition and tonality and his paintings are just damn inspirational. If you haven't yet, definitely visit Sam's blog.

Inspiration: More Billy George

I'm so glad Billy George has a blog. He also has an amazing website. Billy is just an incredibly awesome draughtsman with a mastery of composition and mood. I had the good fortune of looking at his workbooks for "The Emperor's New Groove" and "Brother Bear" and they are truly inspirational. I'm blown away with his composition and style. For those wanting to learn great layout and compositions, definitely bookmark Billy George's sites!
