Yeah, I've been really bad about posting new art. Work's been very busy lately and I was dealing with some health issues, which are now under control. Who is Rocket Johnson?


I''m excited to announce that a new anthology book will be available at this year's ComicCon .

"Who is Rocket Johnson?" is a 72 page graphic novel anthology being self-published by Walt Disney Animation Studio's Story Artists and Directors. It's an all-ages book in which every artist answers the question: "Who is Rocket Johnson?"
It will be sold exclusively at booth 2302 in San Diego and is a limited edition of 1,000 copies.

Inspiration: Vincent Massy




I'm so pleased to see that the multi-talented artist Vincent Massy has a blog. I first saw Vincent's work when I was working on the Groove 2 movie. He's such a talent and an incredible draughtsman. Definitely look through the his pages in his blog. It's filled with concepts, sketches, workbook pages and some models. Definitely a treat!

Hans Bacher: Dream Worlds


This is way overdue, but if you haven't seen it yet, definitely check out Han Bacher's new book, "Dream Worlds: Production Design for Animation". It's now available in English, and it's a stunning treat!! It's filled with gorgeous work from many movies he's designed and it's filled with notes, and approaches on how he designs and compose for film. This is a must have for any budding art director or production designer, or for that matter anyone who wants to see composition done from a current master. It's available through Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

Inspiration: More Billy George






I'm so glad Billy George has a blog. He also has an amazing website. Billy is just an incredibly awesome draughtsman with a mastery of composition and mood. I had the good fortune of looking at his workbooks for "The Emperor's New Groove" and "Brother Bear" and they are truly inspirational. I'm blown away with his composition and style.
